Biography
Karin Döring is a visual artist who has been active on the art scene since 2017. Since 2021 she has worked exclusively as a professional contemporary art artist.
Since 2018, the artist has been exhibiting in Germany, Austria, Spain and the USA in group and solo exhibitions as well as at art fairs. In 2020 she was awarded Contemporary Art Magazine's Artist of the Future Award. Karin Döring's works are represented in public and private collections.
Karin Döring was born in Germany in 1972 and lives and works in Schwäbisch Hall.
The simple expression of a portrait that says everything without words. The play with color and geometric shape. Creativity that pushes boundaries. This is the core of my art.
didn't start with studying art, visiting a gallery or museum, but with the simple desire to buy a painting. An artist friend opened up a world to me that went beyond my imagination. "You can do it yourself," she said confidently and took me to a VHS art course with the auspicious title "Spatulas on Large Canvases."
What happened there exceeded all expectations and completely changed my life. The moment when I first hit the canvas with paint, brush and palette knife was more than just trying things out or getting to know each other for the first time. It was a revelation, the inner voice that let me know: "This is it, this is my calling." Since that day I have lived a life full of canvases, intense colors and creativity.
Learning processes, ever-changing enthusiasm and self-doubt, aching knees on the cold basement floor, ordering more and more canvases, paints, brushes and spatulas. Paint, paint over, paint, paint over. The enthusiasm and learning processes have remained to this day.
A year later I ventured into the art world with my first exhibition, which was rewarded with a sell-out of all the works.
I have had wonderful and less wonderful experiences in the colorful world of art. What has captivated me from the beginning to today is artistic freedom. And modern portraiture.
I love working without guidelines. This is how my series HUMAN STRIPES® was born - an innovative painting technique that allows visitors to my exhibitions not only to see, but also to touch and participate in the creative process. Here, each work is not just an image, but an experience that challenges the senses and awakens curiosity for more.
