BOWIE - the third painting from the new series by Karin Döring, the inventor of the stripe technique.
In this series, the artist once again devotes herself to the portrait, which she creates in her stripe technique, which she intuitively created during the working process. The painting is created in 4 steps: the portrait is first painted in color on the canvas, then the artist sticks stripes on the face and paints the same portrait again in black and white over it. In the last step, the strips are removed again (see pictures and video).
The artist experiences the peeling off of the strips as a caterpillar that throws off the parts of the painting like the cocoon. The finished portrait appears in the colors of a butterfly. In the background the artist works with gilding in silver leaf.

Important Information About My Art

Gerhard H. Germany

I purchased one of Karin's first paintings a few years ago. It was a portrait that immediately spoke to me and captivated me. Since then, more of Karin's works have found a place in our home. I think it's great that she experiments, evolves her art, and thus stands out from other artists. With her special works from the HUMAN STRIPES series, she has definitely hit the mark. Keep it up and good luck 👍🍀
